For 2025 International Women’s Day is Saturday 8th. Due to station scheduling, this first official episode will launch on Rockingham Radio at 21.00 (9pm) GMT this Thursday, 6th March. It appears on substack at 0700hrs on the 8th
This drama was rushed to the front of the queue - indeed ahead of the expected launch - due to the occasion which we did not want to miss. Readers from Mexborough and Balby Read To Write perform wonderfully in an unrehearsed, abridged version of Euripedes’ play. They read from the Kenneth MacLiesh translation, which has a cut-down and direct tone - perhaps more accessible to the casual listener than other flowery versions (pure as they might be).
I have to note that the ‘F’ word appears (though frankly, why a translator would put Anglo Saxon into the mouth of a Trojan women is beyond me) and I actually utter a ‘B’ word in the out-takes - ah yes, there’s a treat at the end! Some light relief.
The narrative keeps you informed along the way, it only remains for me to ask you please to try and tune in or get Captain Cat’s Chat and tell your friends and their friends and even people you don’t like:)
Thank you all for your support and thank you to all taking part in getting this programme up and running.
